My blog has moved

I'd been hosted on Movable Type/TypePad for many years, though never particularly happy with them. Simple stuff like searches not working right always bugged me when I couldn't even find stuff on my own blog.

I'd given some thought about moving to a new platform, never found one that had any good obvious fit, it simply didn't bubble up to the top of my list.

That was until TypePad dropped a bomb near the end of August: shutting down operations at the end of September, with a hard cutoff with no possibility to extend. This would be sucky enough, but I was slated to be in Europe on vacation for three weeks. Yikes.

I happened to trip across https://lykhari.com/ on Twitter who was commenting on posts (like mine) lamenting the shoddy situation, and given how crazy busy I was preparing for my trip I took a chance and signed up.

TypePad did offer a way to export the blog, but only the text parts - the images all had to be downloaded individually (no bulk), and sent them off: Kashif created a conversion tool from TypePad to his own platform, got it all going, with essentially no work on my part.

There are so few things in life that are Easy Buttons, but this was one of them. It just worked, including direct domain support (blog.unixwiz.net).

So grateful for the outstanding support and taking something off my list when I didn't have the time to deal with it.
